Joyce I. Bark Ries, age 78, a resident of Ooltewah, Tenn., passed away Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at the family residence.

Mrs. Ries was the daughter of the late Margie McLiech Bark and Louie Bark. Several brothers and sisters also preceded her in death. Mrs. Ries has been a resident of the south for the past 15 years, moving from Waterloo. She enjoyed taking care of people in need in their home. She was an avid golfer and she enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable garden. Mrs. Ries loved spending time with her family and she was of the Catholic faith.

Survivors include her husband, Herbert J. "Jack" Ries of Ooltewah; her daughter, Jackie Miller and her husband Tom of Harrison, Tenn.; her son, Mike Ries and his wife Roma of Parkersburg; her grandchildren, Shannon Ries and his wife Nelia, Megan Ries Hummel and her husband Tim, Jennifer Johnson and her husband Gene, Ben Miller and his wife Mandy and Katie Redd and her husband Kevin; her five great-grandchildren; her sisters, Patricia Topping and Nancy Bark, both of Iowa, and Janice Schrader of Minnesota; her brothers, Dean Bark of Iowa and Clair Bark of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

The Remembrance of Life Memorial Service will be conducted at a later time.
