EVANSDALE - James Thomas "Jim" Gann, 82, of Evansdale, died at home Monday, Feb. 21.

He was born Nov. 9, 1928, in Burnsville, Miss., son of James and Leona Newcome Gann. He married Betty Lou Stone.

Mr. Gann moved to Waterloo to work for the railroad. He also worked for Walnut Dairy and Rath Packing Co. for more than 32 years until it closed. He then retired from Automatic Amusement. After his retirement, he worked part time for Milroy's Tuxedos. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Willing Workers, Masonic Lodge, York Rites, El Kahir Shrine and Vintage Auto.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Elizabeth (Perry) York of Millington, Tenn., and Debra (Lyle) Brase of Waverly; two sons, Ronald (Ellen) of Sparta, Wis., and Jeff (Mary) of Dunkerton; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a brother, Virgil; and two sisters, Elaine Williams and Marjorie Tubbs.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, with burial in Garden of Memories, both in Waterloo. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, Waterloo, and from 10:30 a.m. until services Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.

Jim was happily married for more than 60 years. He enjoyed yard work, woodworking, flowers and collecting numerous garage items. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
