WATERLOO - Marian I. Young, 88, of Waterloo, died Friday, Feb. 18, at her home.

She was born May 22, 1922, in Ribe, Denmark, daughter of Peter and Christine Miller Iversen. She married Paul C. Young Oct. 29, 1943, in Waterloo. He died Sept. 10, 1978.

She graduated from Waterloo East High in 1940. She worked in the business office of John Deere, and also at Dotson's Clothiers and Waterloo Chamber of Commerce. She worked for doctors Waterbury, Buckles, Loomis and Dieckmann, and retired as vice president of Heating & Cooling Supply. Mrs. Young was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church.

Survived by a son, Jeff Young of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Beth Hulett of Sioux City, Benjamin P. Young of Wellman, Brooke E. (Monty) Gritzner of Waverly and Noah C. (Alisa) Young of North Liberty; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Oage (Jean) Iversen of Cedar Falls; and a nephew, Greg Iversen of Kalona.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Kristi Sue Metcalf; and a nephew, James Iversen.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Public visitation for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Nazareth Lutheran Church, Rosewood Estate or Iowa Hospice Foundation.
