WATERLOO — Josephine Fanger, 84, of Waterloo, formerly of Beaufort, S.C., died Sunday, Feb. 13, at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center.

She was born Feb. 28, 1926, in Waterloo, daughter of Fred and Tessie Balaska Kowal. She married Harry "Brick" Fanger. He died in 1964.

Mrs. Fanger worked as an operator for AT&T and was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.

Survived by a son, Richard (Joan) of Beaufort; a grandson, Scott (Melissa) Fanger of Beaufort; three great-grandsons, Wesley, Nathan and Ryan; two sisters, Kay Farrell of Pennsylvania and Mary Melton of Waterloo; and a brother, Paul (Lora) Kowal of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by two sisters, Olgie Van Natta and Anne Moses; and a brother, John Kowal.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation for an hour before services Friday at the church. Locke Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials: may be directed to the church.
