WATERLOO — Allan C. Griffin, 75, of Waterloo, died Monday, Feb. 14, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home after a long illness.

He was born March 13, 1935, in Ames, son of Rubin Austin and Bernice Bender Griffin. He married Mary McDowell on July 21, 1956, in Albert Lea, Minn., and they later divorced. He then married Marilyn Smith on Nov. 23, 1979, in Lincoln, Neb., and they later divorced.

Mr. Griffin served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was owner-manager of a paint store in Ames for 21 years, then worked as an auto body technician for 20 years in Lincoln, retiring in 1992.

Survived by four daughters, Stephanie (Jerry) Sayre of Nevada, Julie (Hano) Berger of Lincoln, Sue (Brad) Wendel of Eagan, Minn., and Connie (Jesse Hurtado) Mount of Waterloo; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Robert A. (Muriel) of Holyoke, Mass., and Charles O. (Gillian) of Newberry Port, Mass.

Preceded in death by a grandson.

Memorial services: 4 p.m. Saturday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, where visitation begins at 2 p.m. His body has been cremated.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
