WATERLOO — Ruby H. Rice, 89, of Waterloo, died Monday, Feb. 7, at Ravenwood Nursing & Rehab Center.

She was born Jan. 22, 1922, on the family farm in Keystone, daughter of John and Louise Garbers Franzenburg. She married Henry M. Rice on Aug. 27, 1944, in Keystone. He died Aug. 19, 2008.

Mrs. Rice was a part-time bookkeeper with several Waterloo companies.

Survived by a son, Michael (Barbara) of Eagan, Minn.; two daughters, Marla (Russell) Betts of Waterloo and Marcia Daly of Johnston; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her twin sister, Ruth (Donald) Paulsen of Dubuque; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a son-in-law, Michael Daly; and a brother, Howard Franzenburg.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Ansgar Lutheran Church, Waterloo, with burial at 1:30 p.m. in Keystone Cemetery, Keystone. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway and for an hour before services on Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
