WATERLOO - Diana A. Pownell, 71, of Waterloo, died Saturday, Feb. 5, at Covenant Medical Center of natural causes.

She was born Sept. 2, 1939, in Postville, daughter of Edwin and Adaline Luebka Grotegut. She married Robert Pownell on April 19, 1961, at First Lutheran Church, Waterloo.

Mrs. Pownell graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1957 and attended Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls. She was a homemaker most of her life and was active in the Order of Eastern Star.

Survived by her husband; two sons, Shawn (Lorraine) of Denver, Colo., and Scot (Annette) of Madison, Wis.; two daughters, Dawn (Kyle) Pownell Palmer of Tolleson, Ariz., and Dina Pownell of Denver; four grandchildren, Winston, Franklin, Spenser and Aiden; and a brother, Stan (Susan) Grotegut of Boulder, Colo.

Preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Locke Funeral Home, where visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday with a 6:30 p.m. Order of Eastern Star service.
