WATERLOO, IOWA - Elma Wilson Harken, 95, of Friendship Village Retirement Center, died there Friday, January 21, 2011, of natural causes.

She was born March 12, 1915, in Parkersburg, daughter of Emmette M. and Dena Ennenga Wilson. She married Cornelius E. Harken on June 6, 1936, in Waterloo. He died October 12, 1996.

Mrs. Harken graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1933 and had been employed in the law offices of Reed and Beers prior to her marriage. She had been a member of First Presbyterian Church for over 70 years, where she was involved in women's organizations, taught Sunday school and was a member of Mary Martha Circle. She also was a charter member of Ravenwood Auxiliary; was a member of Fire Fighters Auxiliary and Friendship Village Auxiliary; and was a life member of Elklets.

Survived by: a daughter, Barbara (Dr. Roger) Monsour of Tampa, Fla.; two sons, Jerry (Rowena) of El Cajon, Calif., and Bruce (Diane) of Western Springs, Ill.; six grandchildren, Courtney (Tim) Atnip, Kelsey (Justin) Fischbeck, Kyle (Kate) Harken, Eric Harken, Kathleen Harken and Meghan Harken; and four great-grandchildren, Carter Atnip, Abigail Atnip, Kirra Fischbeck and Jenna Fischbeck

She was preceded in death by: a brother, Emmette L. Wilson; and a sister, Marian Wilson.

Memorial Services will be held in the summer. Her body was donated to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Locke Funeral Home assisted the family.

Memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church, Friendship Village Auxiliary or Cedar Valley Hospice.

Memorial Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, at First Presbyterian Church, Waterloo.

Memorials may be made to the church, Friendship Village Auxiliary or Cedar Valley Hospice, in lieu of flowers.
