LA PORTE CITY - Beverly Jean "Bev" Lassen, 57, of La Porte City, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo.

She was born Oct. 2, 1953, in Waterloo, daughter of Duane E. and Marian L. Podhajsky Dostal. She married Wayne R. Kitner on Aug. 1, 1998, at her parents' farm in rural Dysart.

She graduated from Dysart-Geneseo High School in 1972 and attended Iowa State University, Pitze's Beauty School and Hawkeye Institute of Technology, where she received her degree in bookkeeping. She worked as a bookkeeper for Cedar Valley Bank in Mount Auburn and later in La Porte City for 24 years.

Survived by her husband, Wayne Kitner of La Porte City; a son, Chad M. (Jeni) Lassen of Farmington, Minn.; a daughter, Jaime L. (Mark) Campbell of Ankeny; a stepson, Joshua L. Kitner of Tampa, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Amanda (Bradley) Berry of Dallas; four grandchildren, Devin Campbell, Collin Campbell, Mackenzie Lassen and Jordan Lassen; her parents of Dysart; a brother, Gerald (Debbie) Dostal of South Lake, Texas; and two sisters, Delores "Dee" Ryan of Vadnais Heights, Minn., and Genise (Mark) Troutman of Rochester, Minn.

Preceded in death by her grandparents.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at American Lutheran Church, with inurnment at a later date in West View Cemetery, both in La Porte City. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at La Porte City Funeral Service, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.
