ERBES, PFANDHOEFER, SHEPPARD, HANSEN, BOYD

CEDAR FALLS - Robert John Erbes, 65, of Manchester, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, Jan. 13, at Regional Medical Center in Manchester.

He was born Dec. 19, 1945, in Iowa City, son of Erven and Dorothy Pfandhoefer Erbes. He married Melissa Cole Sheppard June 14, 1988, in Manchester.

He graduated from Eldora High School in 1964. He attended Ellsworth Junior College and a trade school in Minneapolis. He was an engineer for Viking Pump in Cedar Falls, then joined the Waterloo Police Department. He moved to San Diego for a time then returned to Iowa and worked for the Buchanan County Sheriff Department, and later the Garner Police Department. In 1984 he joined the Delaware County Sheriff Department in Manchester. Mr. Erbes was a member of Community Congregational Church, serving as trustee for several years. He was active with Boy Scouts working at Camp C. S. Klaus several summers, and the couple were Troop 33 committee members.

Survived by: his wife; two daughters, Heather (Doug) Hansen of Fond du Lac, Wis., and JoeyLynn (Timothy Joseph) Boyd of Honolulu, Hawaii; two grandchildren, Benjamin Hansen and Makenzie Boyd; and several cousins and other relatives.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Community Congregational United Church of Christ, Manchester, with inurnment in Bay Cemetery, south of Manchester at a later date. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Shelly Funeral Home, Manchester, and for an hour before services Monday at the church.
