WATERLOO — Shirley A. Turner, 79, of Waterloo, died Saturday, Jan. 1, at Windsor Nursing and Rehab Center, Cedar Falls, of natural causes.

She was born May 13, 1931, in Oelwein, daughter of Herman and Anna Rohrick Stolfus. She married Jay T. Turner on Sept. 2, 1947, in Quasqueton. He died Aug. 28, 1988.

Mrs. Turner was a singer in a band with her husband and had been a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Waterloo.

Survived by: three sons, Jerry of Independence and James (Sherry) and Edward, both of Waterloo; three daughters, Roxie (Don) Jacobsen and Lana (Robert) Bellmer, both of Oelwein, and Frances (Darrell) Newsom of Waterloo; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: a daughter; and four brothers, Jack, Merlin, Walter and Herbert Stolfus.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Evansdale, preceded by private family burial in Fairview Cemetery, Waterloo. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service.
