ROLLIN 'ROLLIE' G. EVERS

CEDAR FALLS - Rollin "Rollie" G. Evers, 76, of Cedar Falls and formerly of Boone and Arcadia, died Saturday (Feb. 2, 2002) at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls, after a short illness.

He was born March 24, 1925, in Arcadia, the son of Grover William and Laura Elizabeth (Bruggeman) Evers. Rollie married Cleone Stienkamp on June 17, 1947, in Arcadia.

He served in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre during World War II. Rollie fought in many battles including the Battle of the Bulge.

He was a patrolman for four years with the Iowa State Patrol, a deputy sheriff with Boone County for five years and served for a term as the Boone County sheriff and was the first public safety director for the University of Northern Iowa, retiring in 1987.

Rollie is survived by his wife, Cleone Evers, of Cedar Falls; two sons, Mark Evers and his wife, Carol, of Mason City, and Doug Evers and his wife, Jill, of Kokomo, Ind.; a daughter, Renee Evers, of Cedar Falls; six grandchildren, Elisa Anne Evers, Jay Douglas Evers, Jeffrey Paul Evers, Ryan Grover Evers, Nathan William Evers and Kristen Renee Evers; a brother, Kenneth Evers and his wife, Dolores, of Dubuque; and a special companion, his dog, Anna Marie.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls. Inurnment will be at a later date.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home & Cremation Service and one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church.

A memorial fund has been established.
