WATERLOO — Darlene Emma Pearce, 81, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Dec. 5, at Covenant Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 24, 1929, in Hudson, daughter of Richard and Melinda Degener Abben. She married Donald Pearce on Sept. 28, 1947, at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Hudson.

Mrs. Pearce worked for 15 years in the food service department at Cedar Falls High School, retiring in 1989.

Survived by: her husband; two sons, Dan (Peggy) of Waterloo and Duane (Tamara) of Cedar Falls; four daughters, Linda (Gordy) Ceaglske of Tamarack, Minn., Sharon (Wayne) Vickery and Diana (Jim) Myers, both of Waterloo, and Connie (Pete) Kemp of Amboy, Ill.; 23 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Fern) Abben of Waterloo; and two sisters, Karen (Gary) Fleming of Waterloo and Shirley (Clifford) Schilling of Ionia.

Preceded in death by: a son, David Dean; and two brothers, Lavern and Cecil Abben.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Washington Chapel United Methodist Church, rural Cedar Falls, with private inurnment in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Hudson, at a later date. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and for an hour before services Thursday at the church.
