WATERLOO — Alma "Joan" Kipp, 81, of Waterloo, died at home Sunday, Nov. 28, of natural causes.

She was born Dec. 20, 1928, in New Hampton, daughter of Bertram and Henrietta Riehle Schissel. She married Charles Kipp on June 7, 1950, in New Hampton.

Mrs. Kipp was a graduate of New Hampton High School and was employed as a nurse's aide at Schoitz Memorial Hospital and Covenant Medical Center.

Survived by: her husband; four sons, William (Rose) of Freeport, Ill., Steven of New York, John (Ruth) of New Hampton and Richard (Lynne) of Sioux City; two daughters, Julie (Brian Kohler) Kipp and Susan Kipp, both of New York; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Tony (Lucy ) Schissel of New Hampton; and four sisters, Betty Weilacker of California, Mary Peterson of Texas, Madonna O'Connell of Mason City and Kathleen (Luke ) Bohr of Decorah.

Preceded in death by: her parents; an infant son, Charles; two brothers, Loras and Willis Schissel; and a sister, Norma Krueger.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also an hour before services Thursday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to the church or Cedar Valley Hospice, in lieu of flowers.
