WATERLOO — Marlys A. Damge, 91, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Nov. 7, at Parkview Nursing and Rehab Center of natural causes.

She was born April 16, 1919, in Parker, S.D., daughter of Geike and Alma Deiters Gieken. She married Raymond P. Damge on Nov. 14, 1949, in Minnesota. He died April 4, 1988.

Mrs. Damge graduated from Aplington High School. She was a bookkeeper for many years, retiring from Covenant Medical Center in 1992, at the age of 72.

Survived by: a son, Steven (Debra) of Waterloo; a daughter, Sandra (Roger) Schoonover of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Kirk and Kelly Schoonover and Megan and Tyler Damge; eight great-grandchildren, Brandon Damge, Andrew LeCroy, Andrew and Owen Schoonover and Brayden, Landon, Emerie and Laynie Schoonover; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: two brothers, Hank and Willard Gieken; and two sisters, Gladys Mennen and Lucille Bolender.

Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. today and for an hour before services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials: may be directed to the family.

Marlys loved sewing clothes and was a fabulous seamstress. She also enjoyed gardening. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
