CEDAR FALLS - Candeloro "Candy" Spinelli, 83, of Cedar Falls, died at home Friday, Nov. 5.

He was born Jan. 1, 1927, in Sammichele di Bari, Italy, son of Marco and Pasqua Carelli Spinelli. He married Irene Anne Anhalt on May 12, 1952, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Waverly.

Mr. Spinelli served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. He worked at Lawn City Bakery, Waterloo Register Co. and retired from Sears in 1990. He volunteered at Country View care center, was past officer of the Waterloo Chapter of the AMVETS, Disabled American Veterans and was an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church Holy Name Society.

Survived by: his wife; a son, Stephen (Susan) of Lee's Summit, Mo.; three daughters, Esther (Thomas) Kelly of Olathe, Kan., Anne (Duane) Carlson of Waterloo and Carnaella (Scott) Pierce of Laurel, Md.; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, John (Shirley) and Joe (Virginia); two sisters, Ann Mitchell and Lita (Arnold) Barr; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by: a brother, Frank M.; and two sisters, Filomena Terrisani and Lucia Scott.

Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with inurnment in Fairview Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Richardson Funeral Home, with a 6:45 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service.

Memorials: may be directed to Peoples Community Health Clinic, 905 Franklin St., Waterloo 50703, in lieu of flowers.

Candy loved to dance, crochet, play cards, garden, bake and decorate cakes and spend time with his family.
