CEDAR FALLS - Gladys J. Coates, 88, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, at Western Home Communities Elizabeth E. Martin Health Center.

She was born June 2, 1922, in Whittemore, daughter of Reinhold and Bertha Voigt Ostwald. She married Dale M. Coates on Aug. 24, 1947, at St. John Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls.

Survived by: her husband; a son, John (Linda) of Marina, Calif.; two daughters, Pam (Don) Poggensee of Ida Grove and Lonna (David) Christie of Cedar Falls; seven grandchildren, William (Petrina) Risso, Sabrina (Jose) Guevara, Dale Coates, Katie Boyce, Abby Mohlis, Jessica Christie and Megan Christie; and six great-grandchildren, Anthony and Portia Risso, Angel, Ernesto, Johnathan and Brilynn Guevara.

Services: 4 p.m. Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church, with inurnment in Fairview Cemetery at a later date. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and from 3:30 p.m. until services Saturday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to the church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
