WATERLOO — Alan E. Fleetwood, 73, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Oct. 31, at home.

He was born July 19, 1937, in Rochester, Minn., son of Dudley and stepmother Maria Fleetwood. He married Janice Hill on Aug. 31, 1973, at Christ Lutheran Church in Waterloo.

He attended Fredericksburg High School. Mr. Fleetwood was an over-the-road truck driver for Briggs in Waterloo and Roadway Express in Rock Island, until retirement in 1999. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was honorably discharged. He was a member of Christ Lutheran in Waterloo, Risen Christ Lutheran Church in Davenport and attended Concordia Lutheran in Waterloo.

Survived by: his wife, Janice Fleetwood of Waterloo; four sons, Michael of Norman, Okla., Martin of Moline, Ill., Rick (Bernadine) Peterson of Hazleton and Randy Peterson of Waterloo; four daughters, Mitzi (Scott) Potter and Michelle Fleetwood, both of Norman, Ronda (Rick) Hummel of Grand Junction, Colo., and Robyn (Dennis) Hanson of Shreveport, La.; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: a sister, Diane Fleetwood; and a brother, Larry Cheney.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Locke Funeral Home, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Military rites by American Legion Post 138 and VFW Post 1623 and the Iowa Army National Guard. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
