CEDAR FALLS — Roberta L. May Ove, 90, of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, Oct. 24, at Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.

She was born May 1, 1920, in Waterloo, daughter of James and Augusta Madsen Petersen. She married Bernhard N. Ove on Nov. 25, 1945, at Fredsville Lutheran Church, rural Cedar Falls. He died Jan. 9, 1997.

Mrs. Ove was a 1938 graduate of Cedar Falls High School and was employed at John Deere during World War II. Later she worked in food service for Cedar Falls Community School District at North Cedar Elementary School, retiring in 1982 after 17 years of service. She was a 70-year member of Dike American Legion Auxiliary, where she was past district president.

Survived by: a son, Robert (Sheila) of Spirit Lake; three daughters, Jo Anne Ove of Cedar Falls, Janet (Mike) Wanegar of Peoria, Ariz., and Karen (Juan) Moreno of Kent, Conn.; nine grandchildren, Joyce, James, Becky, Angie, Gina, Ashley, Juán Sebastian, Dan and Kate; 10 great-grandchildren, Zachary, Brodie, Madison, Joshua, Autum, Bailee, Brayden, Michael, Lucas and Marley; a sister, Evelyn (Warren) Sheard of Palm Harbor, Fla.; and a brother, Holger (Marilyn) Petersen of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by: her parents; an infant brother, Carl Petersen; and a sister, Clara Lueken.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, with burial at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens. Public visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to the Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Cedar Bible Church or Cedar Valley Hospice.

Roberta enjoyed reading, embroidery, bird watching and writing to her friends.
