Viola (Schmit) Frost (1916-2009)

RAYMOND - Viola Frost, 92, of Raymond, died Saturday, Aug. 1, at Rosewood Estates, Waterloo, of natural causes.

She was born Sept. 24, 1916, in Fox Township, Black Hawk County, daughter of Valentine and Matilda Mangrich Schmit. She married Alfred N. Frost on Nov. 23, 1938, in Gilbertville. He died June 18, 1998.

Survived by: two sons, Donald J. (Nancy) and Eugene V. (Jackie), both of Raymond; three daughters, Maureen K. (Lawerance) Middle of Des Moines, Diane M. (Gary) Wallace of Cedar Falls and Rozanne M. (Mike) Van Nice of Waterloo; a daughter-in-law, Norma Frost of South Bend, Ind.; 22 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two future great-grandchildren; two sisters, Agatha Thome of Raymond and Laurene Weires of Phoenix; two brothers, Eugene Schmit and Cletus (Marcie) Schmit, both of Gilbertville; and two sisters-in-law.

Preceded in death by: two sons, Vernon and Gerald; four brothers, Lawrence, Arnold, Irvin and Edwin; three sisters, Marcella Sadler, Martina in infancy and Irma Kresser; and numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Gilbertville, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Raymond. Public visitation from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, Waterloo, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil. There will be no visitation at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Raymond, Bosco System or Amenity Hospice, in lieu of flowers.
