SIMON, NITZ, SCHAAF, SCHENDEL

WATERLOO - Kenneth J. Simon, 82, of Waterloo, died Friday, Oct. 22, at Allen Hospital.

He was born Oct. 13, 1928, in Fond du Lac, Wis., son of Ervin and Leona Nitz Simon. He married Jeannine Schaaf Sept. 4, 1950, in Glen Ullin, N.D.

He graduated from high school in Sheboygan, Wis., and attended the University of Wisconsin in Sheboygan. He was employed with Woolworth Department Stores as manager of the Crossroads store from 1976-83. The couple owned and operated the Tropik Sun Candy Store in Crossroads Mall. Mr. Simon was a food broker for Hockenberg-Rubin Co., retiring in 1992.

Survived by: his wife; two daughters, Jacqueline (Keith) Schendel of Shoreview, Minn., and Julie Simon of Dubuque; a son, Jeffrey Simon of Grantsberg, Wis.; and a grandson, Captain Christopher Schendel, U.S.A.F.

Preceded in death by: a brother, Roger.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with inurnment in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation will continue for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.
