CEDAR FALLS — Barbara Jean Kane, 89, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Ames, died Sunday, Oct. 3, at Cedar Falls Lutheran Home.

She was born March 3, 1921, in Waterloo, daughter of Rueben Arthur and Majeska Faye Kipp Harrison. She married Wayne Thomas Kane on July 7, 1943, in Harris County, Texas, and they later divorced.

Ms. Kane graduated from Breckenridge High School, San Antonio, and later worked at Iowa State University Press.

Survived by: four sons, Randy of Williston, N.D., Tim (Carol) of Washburn, Wis., David (Nan) of Waterloo and Robert (Christine) of Los Angeles; a daughter, Mary (Pete) Saichaie of Ankeny; four grandchildren, Dustin Kane, Lindsey (Jacob) Moore, Kem Saichaie and Len Saichaie; two great-grandchildren, Brandon Kane and Liam Moore; and a sister, Mary Jane Nicholson of Brea, Calif.

Preceded in death by: her parents; and a brother, Worth Harrison.

Graveside services: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Greenwood Cemetery, Cedar Falls. There will be no visitation. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials: may be directed to the Iowa State University Veterinary College.

Barbara loved her family and enjoyed dogs, especially beagles and basset hounds.
