WATERLOO — Annette Kay Rath, 70, of Waterloo, died Monday, Sept. 20, in Cedar Falls.

She was born July 14, 1940, daughter of Otis and Nora Leftwich Higdon in Waterloo. She was married to John Schill of Sioux City and later to Dick Rath of Cedar Falls.

She attended Waterloo East High School and the University of Northern Iowa. She was a homemaker and worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. as a sales/customer service representative.

Survived by: two sons, Johnny (Amy) Schill of Eugene, Ore., and Jeff (Ann) Schill of Urbandale; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Stan (Marianne) Higdon of West Burlington.

Preceded in death by: her husband, Dick Rath; a brother, Dale Higdon; and a stepdaughter, Heidi Rath.

Services: there will be no visitation or service. Inurnment will be at a later date. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials: may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.

Annette loved cats for companionship. She was an accomplished cross-stitch designer and fabricated some beautiful afghans and blankets with her needlework. Annette also enjoyed nature, birds and gardening.
