DUNKERTON - Gladys M. DeLong, 94, of Dunkerton, died Sunday, Sept. 5, at East Towne Care Center, Independence.

She was born Oct. 3, 1915, in Waterloo, daughter of George Joseph and Ida Mae Tegtmeier Ackerman. On Nov. 7, 1933, she married Nathaniel Jurgens DeLong in Galena, Ill. He died in 1991.

Mrs. DeLong was a member of First Baptist Church, Dunkerton.

Survived by: a daughter, Patricia (John) Ryherd of Dunkerton; three sons, Harold (Helen), Thomas (Kristin) and James (Becky), all of Dunkerton; 13 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Berdina Niemeyer of Independence.

Preceded in death by: two stillborn children, Paul and Pauline; a granddaughter; five brothers, Harold, Lester, Chester, Clarence and Dexter Ackerman; and two sisters, June in infancy and Esther Hall.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, both in Dunkerton. Public visitation from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at White Funeral Home, Jesup, and for an hour before services Thursday at the church.
