WATERLOO - Margret Ruth Wood, 87, of Waterloo, died Saturday, Sept. 4, at Friendship Village Pavilion from complications of Alzheimer's disease.

She was born March 13, 1923, in Des Moines, daughter of Leona Pearl Grove and Muriel Guy Baugh, and was raised by her mother and stepfather, Clyde Fry. She married Jack C. Wood Jr. Feb. 4, 1943, at Union Gospel Church, Waterloo.

Mrs. Wood attended Lowell Elementary, Sloan Wallace Junior High and Waterloo West High schools. She worked in retail at Strom's and National Tea groceries, Black's Candy Department, University of Wisconsin Print Shop and finished her career at Family Christian Book Store (formerly Cedar Book Store), retiring in 2003.

Survived by: two daughters, Jackie (Larry) Shinn of Waterloo and Karen (Glenn) Davison of Tucson, Ariz.; a son, Jack III (Darleen) of Crosby, Minn.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Porter of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: a brother, Hap Baugh; a sister, Colleen Cole; two grandchildren, Jodi Gericke and Garrett Shinn; a great-granddaughter, Chandler Prey; a grandson-in-law, Keith Bouterse, three brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law.

Memorials: may be directed to the family or to Alzheimer's Association, East Central Iowa Chapter, 1570 42nd St. NE, Cedar Rapids 52402.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at the chapel at Friendship Village. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service.

The family extends the deepest thanks to the staffs at the Friendship Village Pavilion and the Cedar Valley Hospice for all the care they have given to our wife and mother.
