WATERLOO —Judy Kay Hingtgen, 68, of Bellevue, formerly of Waterloo, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, at Mill Valley Care Center, Bellevue.

She was born Jan. 30, 1942, in Waterloo, daughter of Marshall Frank and Estella E. Vaughn Hansel. She married Keith R. Megonigle April 18, 1959. She later married Gerald B. Hingtgen Sr. July 8, 1989, in Jesup.

Mrs. Hingtgen received her education in the Waterloo schools and became a homemaker, then received education as a med aide, CNA and nursing home care person. She worked at the Mental Health Facility in Independence, the Independence Care Center, and finally helped set up and run an Alzheimer’s unit near Allen Hospital until retirement.

Survived by: her husband; a daughter, Karen Kay (Megonigle) Martin of Clinton; her former husband, Keith R. Megonigle; three brothers, Frank (Moon) Hansel of Greene, Jim (Paulette) Glaspie of Waterloo and Steve (Kathy) Glaspie of Aplington; six stepsons, Michael (Dawn) Hingtgen of Independence, Mark (Robin) Hingtgen of Iowa City, Jeffery (Dawn) Hingtgen of Jesup, Patrick (Diep) Hingtgen of United Arab Emirates, Gerald (Tracy) Hingtgen of North Liberty and Kevin (Melissa) Hingtgen of Fairbank: four stepdaughters, Karen (Jim) Pullin of Jesup, Karla Hingtgen of Tiffin, Jean (Roy) Bergman of Littleton and Jacqueline (Rodney) Danielson of Cedar Falls; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: a brother, David Hansel; and a son, Roger Ray Megonigle.

Services: 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellevue, with burial in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Spruce Creek Church Cemetery, also in Bellevue. Public visitation from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday and for an hour before services Monday at Hachmann Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bellevue.
