Delbert P. Skubinna, 64, of 2405 Delane Avenue, died Friday, August 24, at Americana Healthcare Center of complications of Multiple Sclerosis. He was born Aug. 25, 1925, in Maynard, son of Otto H. and Mabel Huegli Skubbina [sic]. He married Mary Bockes on Dec. 31, 1949, in Waterloo. They were later divorced. He was a mechanic. He served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Survivors include his parents; a son, Neil of Shaw Air Force Base, Sumter, S.C.; and a brother, Leon of Cedar Falls; he was preceded in death by a brother, Edwin. Graveside services will be 1 pm. Monday at Garden of Memories Cemetery, with full military rites conducted by Waterloo Post 1623 Veterans of Foreign Wars and Becker-Chapman Post 138 American Legion. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Chapel of Memories-West. Memorials may be directed to the American Multiple Sclerosis Society.
