Emilie "Amy" Louise Holter, died at her home in Waterloo, Iowa Tuesday December 24, 1985 at the age of 85. Funeral services were held Friday, December 27 from Trinity American Lutheran Church in Waterloo with the Rev. D.R. Lindberg officiating. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery with Locke Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Amy was born April 11, 1900 in Lippte-Detmold, Germany, the daughter of William and Emma (Ploeger) Winter. She came to the United States on her third birthday. Her family moved to the Waukon, Iowa area. She taught in the rural schools of the area before moving to Waterloo after the death of her father during the World War I flu epidemic. She worked in the Waterloo telephone office. She married Carl H. Holter on July 15, 1924 in Waterloo. He died in 1951. Following his death she worked at Iowa Public Service, clerked at the Russell Lamson Hotel. She was a receptionist at Schoitz Hospital, a position from which she retired in 1975. She was confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Burr Oak and was an active member of the Trinity Church in Waterloo.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

Surviving are 2 brothers, Henry Winter of Park Rapids, Minnesota and Fred Winter of Minneapolis, Minnesota; a sister Ann Winter of Los Angeles, California; 2 children, Robert Holter of Spokane, Washington and Mrs. Harlan (Maxine) Heise of Waterloo, Iowa; 8 grandchildren and a great-grandson.
