WATERLOO - Melvina J. Chambers, 92, of Waterloo, died Friday, Aug. 20, at Allen Hospital following a short illness.

She was born Nov. 10, 1917, at home in Spring Creek Township, Black Hawk County, daughter of John and Dolly Good McChane. She married Harold R. Chambers Nov. 19, 1944, in La Porte City. He died Aug. 27, 1954.

Mrs. Chambers taught elementary school for 31 years, the last 15 years at Orange Elementary School in Waterloo.

Survived by: a son, Ross (Barb) Chambers of Dexter; a daughter, Catherine Brady of Woodridge, Ill.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Waterloo, with burial in West View Cemetery, La Porte City. Public visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball. The casket will not be open at church.
