WATERLOO — Dixie Dot Kendall, 88, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Waterloo, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.
She was born Oct. 7, 1921, in Fort Dodge, daughter of Hildreth and Elma Ford Nelson. She married Delano G. Kendall on June 8, 1941, in Waterloo.
Mrs. Kendall graduated from Waterloo East High School and was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was a circle member.
Survived by: her husband; a son, Dennis (Nancy) of Shingle Springs, Calif.; a daughter, Nancy (Richard) Polley of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Michele (Len) Milanowski of Shingle Springs, Brian (Candi) Buehner of Waterloo, Traci (Jeff Batterson) Butz of Denver and Dan (Monique) Kendall of Fair Oaks, Calif.; nine great-grandchildren, Alicia, Kyle and Hannah Milanowski, Michael and Dylan Buehner, Lexi Butz, Cassie and Delanie Kendall and Kassie Batterson; a sister, Verda Guyer of Waterloo; two sisters-in-law, Jean Nelson and Anna Kendall, both of Waterloo; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by: a brother, Bill Nelson; and a sister, Beverly (Norm) Faucher.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.
Memorials: may be directed to Cedar Bend Humane Society, Cedar Valley Hospice or the church.
Dixie and Del have resided at Western Home Communities, Wind Grace Residence, for the past 14 years, where she enjoyed her "special" garden, flowers and many friends. She loved animals, and they her, especially her beloved Kramer. Her joy was her family, near and far, and she loved the magic "Skype," which she used to see and hear her granddaughters sing to her.
