CEDAR FALLS - Viola V. Knapp, 92, of Dysart, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, Aug. 7, at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton.

She was born April 3, 1918, in Bussey, daughter of Ira and Belle Sims Vanderlinden. She married Hugh E. Knapp Feb. 27, 1937, in Knoxville. He died Dec. 14, 1986.

Survived by: a son, Phillip (Claudia) Knapp of Dysart; two brothers, Ray Vanderlinden of Joplin, Mo., and Dale (Judy) Vanderlinden of Newton; two sisters, Edna Nelson of Knoxville and Lucy (Joe) Urias of Newton; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: a son, Hugh E. Knapp Jr.; four brothers, Paul, Robert, Jack and Ira Vanderlinden Jr. in infancy; and three sisters, Louise Steel, Muriel Sharp and Ruth Mikesell.

Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Garden View Chapel, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Public visitation for an hour before services Tuesday at the funeral home.
