WATERLOO - John Otis Coney, 91, of 206 Newell St., died Friday, July 30, at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center of natural causes.

He was born Dec. 8, 1918, in Magnolia, Miss., son of William Coney and Ella MaGee. He married Marian D. Murrell on Oct. 2, 1949, in Waterloo.

Mr. Coney retired from John Deere after 30 years of service and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survived by: his wife; a daughter, Darlene A. Thompson of St. Louis; two sons, Glen O. of Atlanta and John L. (Michelle) of Glendale, Ariz.; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and two sisters, Alice Alexander of New Orleans and Minnie Chaney of Toledo, Ohio.

Preceded in death by: three brothers, Seth, Leslie and William; and four sisters, Willia Corke, Rosa Marshall, Jessie Steptoe and Ethel Blanche Cunnigen.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Antioch Baptist Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 138 and VFW Post 1623. Public visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Sanders Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials: may be directed to the family at 206 Newell St., where they will receive friends.
