WATERLOO - Ralph W. Peachee, 80, of Monona, formerly of Waterloo, died Saturday, July 24, at Waukon Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon, of pneumonia.

He was born Jan. 13, 1930, in Mount Auburn, son of George Ora and Mildred Thelma Reddington Peachee. He married Joyce Marlene Steepleton on Oct. 18, 1951, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids. She died March 17, 2005.

Mr. Peachee graduated from Dysart Country Schools in 1948. He joined the U.S. Army and served as a corporal during the Korean War. He was employed at John Deere as a pattern maker from 1948 until retiring in 1987 with 39 years of service. He also was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church, the VFW and American Legion in La Porte City.
Survived by: two sons, Michael of Garfield, Ark., and Tom (Teresa) of Lancaster, Calif.; two daughters, Barb (David) Jones of Apple Valley, Minn., and Denise (Bill) Benda of Monona; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Darlene Hopper of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by: his parents; and a brother, Wallace.

Memorial Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, preceded by an hour of visitation. Military rites will be conducted by Becker-Chapman Post 138 American Legion and Waterloo Post 1623 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
