WATERLOO — Christene L. Deeds, 64, of Waterloo, died Thursday, July 1, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home of natural causes.

She was born Aug. 16, 1945, in Waterloo, daughter of Charles and Berniece Hatturp Burns. She had worked at Waterloo AMVETS; had worked 17 years at Kmart as sales associate to the department manager; and most recently worked 12 years as a fax specialist at VGM.

Survived by: a son, Ben (Kelly Mitchell) Reeves of Waterloo; a granddaughter, Madisen Reeves; a sister, Berniece (Verdale) Marquardt of Evansdale; a niece, Denise (Michael) Woods of Evansdale; and a nephew, Verdale (Tammy) Marquardt Jr. of Quincy, Ill.

Preceded in death by: her parents; and maternal grandparents, Gunnar Sr. and Irma Hatturp.

Memorial services: will be held at a later date. Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball is in charge of arrangements.
