WATERLOO — Alma A. Dolan, 94, of Waterloo, died Monday, June 14, at Lakeview Landing.

She was born Nov. 7, 1915, in Dalhart, Texas, daughter of George and Myrtle Bowles Atkinson. She married Francis V. Gard in 1939. They later divorced. She married Lawrence E. Dolan on Dec. 16, 1983. He died Jan. 1, 1995.

She graduated from St. Mary's High School. She attended Lincoln Land Community College, Sangamon State University and received her master's degree in English literature from University of Illinois, Springfield. She was a certified professional secretary, a teacher at Brown's Business College, an executive secretary with the state of Illinois and taught in Springfield School District.

Survived by: a stepson, Larry (Joan) Dolan of Waterloo; three stepgrandsons, Shawn Dolan of White Bear Lake, Minn., and Scott and Chris (Angie) Dolan, both of Waterloo; three great-grandchildren, Emma, Rhodes and Maddie Dolan; a stepbrother, Grover Gordon of Escondido, Calif.; a niece, Alma Ann Stark of Albuquerque, N.M.; and a great-nephew, Shawn (Ree Ann) Cole of Albuquerque.

Preceded in death by: a brother, Ralph Atkinson; a sister, Edna Stark; and a great-nephew, Lyle Cole.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Edward's Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 4 p.m. Catholic Daughters of the Americas rosary. Visitation will continue for an hour before services Thursday at the church.
