LA PORTE CITY - Donald R. "Don" Anderson, 89, of La Porte City, formerly of Jesup, died Thursday, May 27, at La Porte City Nursing and Rehab Center of natural causes.

He was born Nov. 21, 1920, in Barclay, son of William Walker and Stella Anetta McMillan Anderson. He married Virginia Maye Rekers on Oct. 14, 1945, in Dunkerton. She preceded him in death Oct. 15, 1994. He married Betty Loeb.

Mr. Anderson farmed in the Jesup area for more than 50 years. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

Survived by: his wife, Betty; two sons, Raymond (Marie) of Cedar Falls and Robert (Nancy) of Jesup; a daughter, Beverly (Neil) Hayden of Atkins; a stepdaughter, Dawn Francisco of La Porte City; three grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: his first wife, Virginia; a brother, William; and two stepsons, Stephen and David Loeb.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Jubilee, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the La Porte City American Legion San Diego Post 207 and V.F.W. Post 3983. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at La Porte City Funeral Service, and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.
