WATERLOO - Penelope A. "Penny" Maurer, 65, of Waterloo, died Thursday, May 27, at Allen Hospital of cancer.

She was born Dec. 13, 1944, in Waterloo, daughter of Gaylord and Marion Baker Vollbrecht. She married Dennis Maurer on July 13, 1963, in Waterloo.

She worked at apparel stores in Waterloo, El Mecca Shrine Club, Sunnyside Country Club, catering and food service departments of the former Conway Civic Center and banquets at Hawkeye Community College.

Survived by: her husband; a son, Donald of Waterloo; a daughter, Diane (Kim Prine) Love of Madison, Wis.; a twin brother, Pat (Betty) Vollbrecht; a sister, Berniece (Bill) Sass, both of Waterloo; and a grandchild.

Preceded in death by: a brother, Thorvald "Bud" Jacobsen; and two sisters, Marlys Schoville and Delores Eastman.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Nazareth Lutheran Church, with burial in Hillside Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
