Mother and Son Rest Together

Mrs. Susan A. Leckington and Soldier Boy Who Died at Sea United in Death.

Overcome by the shock of the news of the death of her son, Private Lee R. Leckington, Mrs. Susan A. Leckington died at her home, 327 La Porte road, at 11:45 p.m. Saturday. Mrs. Leckington suffered a nervous breakdown several months ago but had rallied somewhat, and when news of the death of her son came last Wednesday she had a relapse, which, with pneumonia, caused her death.

Susan A. Evans was born in Clayton county in 1860. In 1875 she came to Waterloo and Nov. 25, 1879, was married to Aaron S. Leckington, who with five children survives. The children are Lewis and Charles, Waterloo; Calvin, in service in France; Mrs. W. R. Huppert, Winthrop, and Martha, at home. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Jane Haes, Garner, and Mrs. Kate Reynolds, Chappell, Neb., and two brothers, A. L. Evans, Maynard, and George Evans, Mitchell, S. D.

Funeral services for both Mrs. Leckington and her son, whose body arrived here yesterday morning from Hoboken, N. J., were held at the O'Keefe & Towne chapel at 1:30 p.m. today. Rev. F. W. Court and Rev. J. E. Johnson had charge of the service. Burial was in Elmwood.

Private Lee R. Leckington died Oct. 1 of pneumonia on board a United States transport while en route overseas. The body was returned to this country and brought here by Private Douglas of Hoboken, N. J.
