WATERLOO - Genevieve "Gen" Laws, 81, of Waterloo, died Wednesday, May 5, at Allen Hospital of natural causes.

She was born Sept. 17, 1928, in Tama, daughter of Harry and Rhoda Marlow See. She married Walter "Pete" Laws on Aug. 13, 1949, in Evansdale. He preceded her in death on March 27, 1999.

She graduated from Tama High School and Allen Hospital School of Nursing in 1948. Mrs. Laws was a nurse at Woodlawn Convalescent Home and a cook at Vernies Lounge. She was a member of Linden United Methodist Church.

Survived by: two daughters, Barb and Terri (Aaron Morgan) Davis, both of Waterloo; two sons, Pete (Sue) and Dennis (Donna), both of Waterloo; a daughter-in-law, Kelly of Waterloo; a sister, Barbara (Thomas) Knight of Marshalltown; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Preceded in death by: her husband; a daughter, Kay Otters; a son, Greg; a great-grandson, Dai-Shon Flowers; a sister, Jean Bales; and two brothers, Ralph and Dick Jacobs.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday at Linden United Methodist Church, with burial in Fairview Cemetery at a later date. Public visitation for an hour before services Saturday at the church. Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, An Overton Family Service, is assisting the family.

Memorials: may be directed to the family.

She enjoyed singing, especially spiritual music, fishing on riverbanks with Pete, sewing, crocheting and supporting missions work at her church. Genevieve loved her grandchildren; they were her life. She raised one grandson, Michael, who was special to her. The entire family will miss Gen dearly.
