WATERLOO - Raphael "Ray" J. Frost, 84, of Waterloo died Friday, April 16, at Friendship Village of natural causes.

He was born Aug. 17, 1925, on a farm outside of Raymond, son of Frank and Cathryn Clarens Frost. He married Anita M. Welbes on Nov. 15, 1948, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Waterloo.

Mr. Frost graduated from Jesup High School in 1943, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he received the Bronze Star. He was employed as the manager of Waterloo Catholic Cemeteries from 1959 until 2001. He was member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Waterloo Elks Club and the Knights of Columbus.

Survived by: his wife; two sons, Steven J. (Bev) of Waterloo and Michael J. (Deb) of Eldridge; two daughters, Christine R. (Walt) Summerhays of Gilbertville and Julie K. Wilson of Waterloo; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, with one on the way; a sister, Ida Becker of Jesup; and a sister-in-law, Eileen Frost of Eagle Center.

Preceded in death by: his parents; six brothers, Alvin (Viola), Joseph (Peg), Ernest "Ernie" (Sally), Francis "Fritz" (Rose), Leo (Dorothy) and Vince; and a sister, Margaret (Martin) Becker.

Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and Evansdale AMVETS Post 31. Public visitation from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 4 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary and 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also an hour before services Tuesday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to the church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
