WATERLOO — John Joseph Heuer, 91, of Waterloo, died Saturday, April 3, at Cedar Falls Lutheran Home, Cedar Falls.

He was born Nov. 5, 1918, in Sturgis, S.D., son of Benjamin and Susan Frisch Heuer. He married Berniece Meier on May 29, 1948, in Barclay Township.

Mr. Heuer served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed as an electric utility lineman for Iowa Public Service, now MidAmerican Energy, for 36 years, retiring in 1981. He had been a member of Blessed Sacrament Church since 1950.

Survived by: his wife; three sons, Gary (Jeanne) of Cedar Falls, Vincent (Yvonne) of Waterloo and Richard (Joy Campbell) of Ames; two daughters, Janice Heuer of Kansas City, Mo., and Theresa (Cris) Green of El Paso, Texas; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sister Patricia Heuer OSF of Dubuque.

Preceded in death by: his parents; two brothers, Roman and Henry; and two sisters, OraBella (Ed) Sheehan and Sister Mary Heuer OSF.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 4:30 p.m. rosary and 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also an hour before services at the church on Thursday.

Memorials: may be directed to Sisters of St. Francis or the church.
