CEDAR FALLS - Esther Lorraine Fleshner, 81, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, April 1, at Windsor Nursing and Rehab Center of natural causes.

She was born Oct. 9, 1928, in New Hartford, daughter of William and Gertrude Nissen Webrand. She married Dale L. Fleshner Oct. 2, 1948, in Finchford. They later divorced. He preceded her in death Dec. 13, 1983.

She graduated from New Hartford High School on May 15, 1946. She was a waitress in Cedar Falls, worked at the Black Hawk Hotel for 15 years and was a cook for area restaurants including The Qwik Serve, Cedar Falls and The Starting Gate Restaurant, Hudson. She was a member of Open Bible Church, Waverly.

Survived by: three sons, Lloyd (Cheryl Dahl) of Decorah, Darwin (Sara) of Cedar Falls and Phillip (Connie) of Janesville; two daughters, Carmen Shoemaker and Susan Springer, both of Waterloo; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lillian Shoemaker of Cedar Falls and Vera (Glen) Shaner of Parma, Idaho; and two sisters-in-law, Doris White of Clarksville and Darlys (Mervin) VanTiger, of Mengha, Minn.

Preceded in death by: two brothers-in-law, Merle Shoemaker and Harold White.

Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Open Bible Church, Waverly, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, Cedar Falls. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, and for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to the family.

She greatly enjoyed spending time with family and friends and played in local pool leagues for many years. Esther will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
