WATERLOO -- Eugene F. Averill, 79, of 3335 Monticello Ave., died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, at Allen Hospital of natural causes.

He was born April 8, 1921, in Black Hawk County, son of Jess and Minnie Turner Averill. He married Helen Martin on May 28, 1944, in Waterloo.

Mr. Averill was chief engineer for Titus Manufacturing from 1948 to 1973, then worked for Hawkeye Corrugated Box, retiring in 1986. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in Italy as a pilot during World War II.

Survived by: his wife; a son, Martin of Waterloo; a daughter, Jan Rosauer of Buckingham; and two grandchildren.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Locke Funeral Home, with burial in Garden of Memories. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials: may be directed to Visiting Nurses Association or First United Methodist Church.
