WATERLOO -- Pauline "Polly" McGinnis, 71, of Ames, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, at Israel Family Hospice House, Ames, of cancer.

She was born July 31, 1928, in Waterloo, daughter of William Dale and Gretta Hoag Sindlinger. She married Dallas Vern McGinnis on Jan. 3, 1948, in Waterloo. He died Dec. 9, 1994.

Mrs. McGinnis attended Iowa State University, Ames, and was president of the Waterloo chapter of the Iowa State Women's Club.

Survived by: two daughters, Kathryn Kramer of Littleton, Colo., and Marcia McCaffrey of Concord, N.H.; a son, Douglas of Carpinteria, Calif.; six grandchildren; and a brother, W.W. Sindlinger of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by: a grandson.

Services: were 11 a.m. today at Collegiate United Methodist Church, with burial in Iowa State University Cemetery, both in Ames. Adams Funeral Home, Ames, was in charge of arrangements.

Memorial fund: has been established.
