WATERLOO -- Fred R. Belthuis, 86, of Dysart, formerly of Waterloo, died Sunday, April 23, 2000, at home of natural causes.

He was born Dec. 10, 1913, in Stout, son of George and Amanda Conklin Belthuis. He married Mildred Marie Schallenberger on June 4, 1937, in Waterloo.

Mr. Belthuis was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was employed in the pickle cellar at Rath Packing Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1975.

Survived by: his wife; three sons, Neil L of Glendale, Ariz., Albert R. of Cedar Falls and John S. of Waterloo; a daughter, Becky J. Walters of Dysart; and eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: a son, Gerald; four brothers, George, Albert, Roy and Austin; and an infant sister.

Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, with burial in Garden of Memories. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and for an hour before services Wednesday at the chapel.
