HUDSON - John L. McKinley Jr., 67, of Hudson, died Saturday, Jan. 16, at Allen Hospital, Waterloo, of cancer.

He was born Dec. 1, 1942, on a rural farm in Geneseo township, son of John Murray and Mary Reeves McKinley. He married Karol Howard June 18, 1966, at Burton Avenue Baptist Church, Waterloo.

Mr. McKinley received his education at Traer Community School and worked as a truck driver and factory worker.

Survived by: his wife; a son, Matt of New Hampton; two daughters, Rachel (Vern) Drewelow of New Hampton and Jennifer Schons of Waterloo; five grandchildren, Addam, Taylor, Nicole, Victoria and Brett; his father of Rochester, Minn.; two brothers, Sam (Carole) of Omaha, Neb., and Murray of Rochester; and three sisters, Mary Lois (Morris) Dinsdale of Overland, Kan., Kathryn (Jack) Syhlman of Moravia and Ema McKinley of Rochester.

Preceded in death by: his mother.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace Baptist Church, Waterloo, with private family burial in Buckingham Cemetery before services. Public visitation 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Overton Funeral Home, Traer, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to the family.

John's hobbies were horses, which included competing at many shows, and he won many ribbons and trophies. He enjoyed spending time with his horses and creating beautiful woodwork items and doing jigsaw puzzles. John will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
