WATERLOO - Dorothea Marie Miller, 84, of Waterloo, died Friday, Jan. 15, at her home of natural causes.

She was born Nov. 1, 1925, in Clear Lake, daughter of Dan and Frieda Tegmeyer Dye. She married Thorval Miller on April 6, 1946, in Virginia. He died June 26, 2009.

She graduated from Clear Lake High School and later attended AIB in Des Moines.

They eventually settled in the Los Angels area. She worked for the Los Angeles City Schools. She was an active volunteer in the Gardena Pacers. She retired to Bend, Ore., but returned to Southern California. In 2004 she moved to Waterloo to be closer to family.

Survived by: a son, Geoffrey (Elizabeth) of Waukee; three grandchildren, Emilee, Matthew and Joshua Miller; and a sister-in-law, Jean Dye of Clear Lake.

Preceded in death by: her husband; a son, Joshua; two brothers, Keith (Vivian) Dye and Bud Dye; and a sister, Virginia Roach.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. Edward Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, were there will be a 5 p.m. rosary service, and after 1 p.m. Monday at the church.

Memorials: may be directed to St. Edward Catholic Church, The DRE program of St.Edward's or the American Cancer Society.
