WATERLOO - Flora Uhlenberg, 95, of Waterloo, died Saturday, Dec. 26, at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center of natural causes.

She was born June 25, 1914, in Mayetta, Kan., daughter of the Rev. William C. and Elizabeth R. Murray Porter. She married Andrew Weir Uhlenberg on Aug. 22, 1942, at First United Presbyterian Church, Waterloo. He died March 2, 2000.

Mrs. Uhlenberg graduated from Winterset High School in 1932 and attended Tarkio College, Tarkio, Mo. She worked as a secretary for Family Service League, was a price clerk for Repass Auto until 1970, then worked at School Bus Sales Co. as a bookkeeper for 11 years, retiring in 1981. She had been an active member of Bethel Presbyterian Church since 1936; was a 4-H leader for 25 years in Hope Center, was a member of Dysart Woman’s Club and an Elklette, volunteered at Kittrell and Kingsley Schools and was a private tutor until 2008.

Survived by: two sons, John (Jill) of La Porte City and Mark (Gail) of O’Fallon, Mo.; two daughters, Jane (Larry) Ryan and Mary (Ken) Huffman, both of Waterloo; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Ila Merriam of Newville, Pa.; and a brother, William Porter of Lakeland, Fla.

Preceded in death by: three sisters, Mary Fenton, Mildred Hughes and Ettamae Porter; and two brothers, James and David Porter.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bethel Presbyterian Church, Waterloo, with burial in Amity Cemetery, Reinbeck. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Locke Funeral Home.

Memorials: may be directed to the church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
