WATERLOO - Daryl A. Thomsen, 85, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, Dec. 22, at Allen Hospital.

He was born Nov. 15, 1924, in Mount Auburn, son of George and Elizabeth Sheffler Thomsen. He married Gloria Byam on June 4, 1950, in LaPorte City.

Mr. Thomsen graduated from LaPorte City High School and served in the Navy Air Corps as an aviation radioman during World War II. He was a supervisor at John Deere Tractor Works Engineering Center for 34 years until his retirement.

He was a member of the Waterloo Elks, Waterloo Lodge #105 A.F.&A.M., John Deere Superviors Club, York Rite, Scottish Rite, El Kahir Shrine, El Mecca Shrine Club and the El Kahir Mobile Nobles.

Survived by: his wife; and a brother, George of Needles, Calif.

Preceded in death by: two sisters, Ila Larem and Alta Amaa; and two brothers, William and Donald.

Memorial services: are planned for early January at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, with inurnment in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials: may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or the El Kahir Transportation Fund.
