ALLISON - Ruth L. Whitaker, 87, of Allison, died Thursday, Dec. 17, at the Rehabilitation Center of Allison.

She was born Aug. 8, 1922, in Finchford, daughter of William and Sarah Berger Polderboer. She married Kenneth Whitaker in 1941. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Whitaker graduated from New Hartford High School, New Hartford. She was a secretary for REC, Allison; was a member of United Church of Christ, Allison, and was a past matron of the Eastern Star.

Survived by: three sons, Bruce (Janet) and Joel (Janice), both of Seattle, and Steven (Linda) of Altoona; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: her parents; a sister, Wilma Brenne; a brother, Emmett Polder; and a daughter, Annette Whitaker.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Allison United Church of Christ, Allison, with burial in Allison Cemetery. Public visitation from 1 to 3 p.m. today at Sietsema Vogel Funeral Home, Allison.

Ruth was very involved in politics.
